Advanced Options
These are the setting that you SHOULD NOT change unless you have problems.
Connecting |
Do Not Resolve Address Name
x Chat will try to check the hostname while connecting to remote computer. If you are not using fast connection and do not have DNS server setup properly, you can disable this feature.
Connect Timeout
Connect timeout is used to adjust the time to determine connection failure.
Too Fast: The program does not have enough time to wait for signal and provide a fault message that it cannot to connect, if you have unstable or very slow connection. (i.e. 28.8k modem connecting to remote computer through Internet)
Too Slow: Waiting too long to retry if you didn't provide correct connect port address.
Sending |
Pasted Text Data Limit
When you copy and paste text message in the program, this is the limit of how many character you can send at once. If you set the limit too high, you will delay the remote user receiving time by data overflowing.
Encrypted Data Limit
When you copy and paste text message in the program, this is the limit of how many character you can encrypt and send at once. If you set the limit too high, you will delay the remote user receiving time by data overflowing and decrypting progress. (The encrypted data is double size of normal data.)
File Transfer Byte Per Cycle
This is also the control of the speed of sending binary data. If you set this setting too high, you will overload the transferring control and delay remote user receiving time by data overflowing and eventually decrease the overall file transferring speed.
Receiving |
Data Overflow Cycle Limit
Data overflow occurs when remote user send data, for example you type character 'a', 'c', and you hit <backspace> to erase character 'c', and correct it as 'b', however, you may get the data 'ac^BK1#BKb' instead of 'ab' combined together (which ^BK1#BK is the control key for backspace) because of the network congestion. When you receive data which is over the normal data size, this program will continue to process the remain data and check if any control keys until it reaches the cycle limit you set to prevent from forever looping.
Self -Repair Service
Self-repair service is introduced to avoid data loss during transmission. This service is based on sender and receiver's text position to correct any missing characters. This service will not recover all but reduce the data missing error only. If you suspect there is transmission error, use the refresh menu or button. You should turn this off if both sender and receiver using the different language platform, such as English vs. Japanese, Chinese etc.
Self -Repair Service Cycle Limit
Similar with Data Overflow Cycle Limit, when you receive data requested for self-repair service (refreshing) which is over the normal data size, this program will continue to process the remain data until it reaches the cycle limit you set. In case of a program can not be fixed, you should minimize the cycle to prevent from forever looping.
Misc. |
Check command line parameter interval
You may start this program with IP address as parameter in DOS or Command Prompt. You may also trigger this program from any other programs or command line no matter it is running or not. For example, you have a program to check if somebody online status, you can set that program to call x Chat, even if it is already running. This program will check if any trigger event in an interval of your setting, and connect to the destination as you wish.
Screen capture time delay
As title said, it is to set the time delay to give you more time to select an object to be captured in the drawing board. When you want to capture an object, you have to select it (make it active).
Overall Text Limit
This is the limitation of the overall text message you can enter. The max. default of the text box is 64,000. It depends on your language. If you are using Chinese, Japanese and Korean or other double-byte character, the text limit should be set as 32,000.
