These settings are for advanced users only.
Connection Timeout - When you are try to connect, this is the time period to determine whether it is failed to connect (Increase this value if you have a slow connection).
Display incompatible version warning - The protocol used in newer version may not compatible with the current one. It will show you where you could download the new one. If you unselect this option and do not use the one match with remote user, this program will not work correctly.
File Transfer - This program will try to send several thousand bytes as a time. If you increase this value, the data may be overflow and the pause feature may not working.
Pasted Text Limit - This is how many byte/character you can send as a time. When you copy and paste text message in the program, this is the limit of how many character you can send at once. If you set the limit too high, you will delay the remote user receiving time by data overflowing.
Encrypted Text Limit - The same as above, only when you turn on the encryption. (Notice: The encrypted data is 2 bytes.) When you copy and paste text message in the program, this is the limit of how many character you can encrypt and send at once. If you set the limit too high, you will delay the remote user receiving time by data overflowing and decrypting progress. (The encrypted data is double size of normal data.)
Sound File Limit - This is the value for all Sound settings. You can set this higher to send MP3, WMA or other multimedia file.
Data Overflow Cycle Limit - If there is data overflow, the program will loop how many times to process the received data. When you receive data which is over the normal data size, this program will continue to process the remain data and check if any control keys until it reaches the cycle limit you set to prevent from forever looping.
Self -Repair Service - Self-repair service is introduced to avoid data loss during transmission. This service is based on sender and receiver's text position to correct any missing characters. This service will not recover all but reduce the data missing error only. If you suspect there is transmission error, use the refresh menu or button. You should turn this off if both sender and receiver using the different language platform, such as English vs. Japanese, Chinese etc.
Self -Repair Service Cycle Limit - Similar with Data Overflow Cycle Limit, when you receive data requested for self-repair service (refreshing) which is over the normal data size, this program will continue to process the remain data until it reaches the cycle limit you set. In case of a program can not be fixed, you should minimize the cycle to prevent from forever looping.
Out of Memory Error - This program does not use much memory as long as you don't open an image in Picture Preview. It will check if you system has enough memory to open an large image file. If you system has 90% memory usage, you can not open an image in Picture Preview until your memory usage drops.
Check command line interval - This is the time period interval which it will check if any third party application want to call x Chat. It is also the time interval to check if you are away (See Security - Automatic minimize when screen saver is on). Type "xChat.exe /?" for information how to use.
Overall Text Limit - The max. limit of text you can chat. This is also the limit of the controls. If you are using DBCS, you may decrease the value by half.
